Setting up Outlook Express

  1. Click Start , point to Programs, and then click Outlook Express
  2. On the Tools menu, click Accounts
  3. Click Add , and then click Mail
  4. In the Display Name box, type your name, and then click Next
  5. In the E-mail Address box, type your CBIT email address, and then click Next
  6. In the Incoming mail (POP3) server box, type the following server address: mail.cbit.net.au
  7. In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server box, type the following server address: mail.cbit.net.au
  8. Click Next
  9. In the Account Name box, enter your email address (eg. username@cbit.net.au or username@yourdomain.com if yourdomain.com is hosted with CBIT Internet)
  10. In the Password box, enter your password
  11. Click Next
  12. Do not select Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)
  13. Do not select My Server Requires Authentication. If you are configuring a laptop that will be connected to different ISPs, check this box.
  14. Click Next
  15. In the Internet Mail Account Name box, type CBIT, and then click Next
  16. Click I will establish my Internet connection manually, and then click Next
  17. Click Finish, and then click Close

Setting up TransACT for Windows XP

  1. Click the Start button
  2. Select Connect To then Show all connections
  3. At this stage you should see an icon representing your Ethernet card under LAN or High-Speed Internet, probably named Local Area Connection.
  4. Under Network Tasks in the navigation panel on the left, click Create a new connection
  5. Click the Next button in the Welcome to the New Connection Wizard window
  6. Ensure Connect to the Internet is selected and click the Next button
  7. Select Set up my connection manually and click the Next button
  8. Select Connect using a broadband connection that requires a username and password and click the Next button
  9. Enter the name "CBIT Internet" and click the Next button
  10. Enter your username and password. Your username and password should be in the format of username@cbit.net.au Remember that usernames and passwords are case-sensitive – your username will always be lower case. Leave the three boxes in the lower half of the window checked and click the Next button.
  11. Check the box Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop if you wish and click the Finish button
  12. At this stage the Connect Instructions window should appear. Click the Connect button and you should be ready to use the Internet.

Setting up TransACT for Mac OSX

  1. Click on the Apple Symbol
  2. Select System Preferences
  3. Click on Network
  4. Change Show to Show Ethernet
  5. Select the PPPoE tab
  6. Tick the PPPoE box
  7. The Provider is CBIT Internet
  8. Enter your username in the format username@cbit.net.au and your password
  9. Tick Show PPPoE Status and click on Apply Now
  10. A Network Icon < - - > will appear in the top right hand corner of the screen
  11. Click on this icon, then click on Connect
