Setting up Outlook Express
- Click Start , point to Programs, and then click Outlook Express
- On the Tools menu, click Accounts
- Click Add , and then click Mail
- In the Display Name box, type your name, and then click Next
- In the E-mail Address box, type your CBIT email address, and then click Next
- In the Incoming mail (POP3) server box, type the following server address: mail.cbit.net.au
- In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server box, type the following server address: mail.cbit.net.au
- Click Next
- In the Account Name box, enter your email address (eg. username@cbit.net.au or username@yourdomain.com if yourdomain.com is hosted with CBIT Internet)
- In the Password box, enter your password
- Click Next
- Do not select Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)
- Do not select My Server Requires Authentication. If you are configuring a laptop that will be connected to different ISPs, check this box.
- Click Next
- In the Internet Mail Account Name box, type CBIT, and then click Next
- Click I will establish my Internet connection manually, and then click Next
- Click Finish, and then click Close
Setting up TransACT for Windows XP
- Click the Start button
- Select Connect To then Show all connections
- At this stage you should see an icon representing your Ethernet card under LAN or
High-Speed Internet, probably named Local Area Connection.
- Under Network Tasks in the navigation panel on the left, click Create a new
connection
- Click the Next button in the Welcome to the New Connection Wizard window
- Ensure Connect to the Internet is selected and click the Next button
- Select Set up my connection manually and click the Next button
- Select Connect using a broadband connection that requires a username and
password and click the Next button
- Enter the name "CBIT Internet" and click the Next button
- Enter your username and password. Your username and password should be in the
format of username@cbit.net.au
Remember that usernames and passwords are
case-sensitive – your username will always be lower case. Leave the three boxes in
the lower half of the window checked and click the Next button.
- Check the box Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop if you wish and click the Finish button
- At this stage the Connect Instructions window should appear. Click the Connect
button and you should be ready to use the Internet.
Setting up TransACT for Mac OSX
- Click on the Apple Symbol
- Select System Preferences
- Click on Network
- Change Show to Show Ethernet
- Select the PPPoE tab
- Tick the PPPoE box
- The Provider is CBIT Internet
- Enter your username in the format username@cbit.net.au and your password
- Tick Show PPPoE Status and click on Apply Now
- A Network Icon < - - > will appear in the top right hand corner of the screen
- Click on this icon, then click on Connect
